All around the world, people are getting fatter and fatter. Even in China, Japan and Korea where the people are known for their small frames, obesity is rapidly becoming widespread. No matter where you are from, your risk of an enlarged gut is higher than ever. So what is making us so fat as a species? It’s an easy answer: deficient nutrition. We are not just eating inadequate nutrition, but are also eating too much at the wrong times. With drive-thrus everywhere you turn, restaurants serving enormous portions, and almost every food becoming saturated with fat, sugar, and preservatives, it’s no secret why our belly’s keep expanding. However, there is a way to turn this around, and the answer lies in gaining knowledge about nutrition.
Eat for Energy
We are so focused these days on food and the taste of it, and how much of it we get, that we forget that food is merely fuel for us. Food provides the energy to breath, walk across a street, smile, and complete every other daily activity. There is only so much food our bodies can burn for energy immediately, and the excess is stored as fat in case of a famine. Fat isn’t our body’s way of getting back at us or its way of being spiteful. Our bodies are merely acting as they were designed to do.Fat provides heat when we’re cold, and it provides insulation to our bones and internal organs and even our muscles. In the early days of human history it also served to sustain the body in famine conditions. When we eat too much, and we don’t burn off those calories with exercise or everyday activities, the excess gets turned into fat. Due to the huge portion sizes we consume today, our fat cells are expanding rapidly.
The Key is Balance
The key to this growing problem is proper nutrition. It is not necessary to completely give up your favorite foods, including desserts and sweets. To keep from gaining excessive fat stores, you just need to keep these foods to the occasional treat instead of a daily splurge. A regular intake of vegetables, fruits, and lean meats combined with nutrition supplements like vitamins will keep your body healthy. When you stick to healthy nutrition on a daily basis, your favorite fatty foods will be a great reward from time to time. As long as you are burning the extra calories off through a consistent exercise program, you can maintain a trim waistline and have a little treat once, maybe even twice a week.
If You Have a Weight Problem
If you are struggling to take off the extra weight, you will not find permanent success until you start feeding your body the nutrition it needs and start a regular exercise program. If you eat a balanced diet, eat smaller meals more often (such as six meals per day) and get at least thirty minutes of exercise three to five times per week, that weight will come off in no time. Losing weight does take some consistent work, but there is no easy way around it.It isn’t possible without some work on your part. If exercise scares you, relax because it doesn’t have to be super intense like you see in all the infomercials and commercials all over the TV. Almost everyone is capable of getting out for a walk, and that is adequate to start burning off those extra calories as long as your nutrition is within healthy guidelines.
