Just got home from a long 2 week break in Malta, now I’m back in the office churning out some more articles and blog posts to share with you guys. After getting back from a two week vacation I found it hard to settle down and start writing, I still wanted to be out down the beach or chilling out in a local bar.
While I was out there I spent many days on the beach relaxing whilst doing bits of work on the laptop, and as I was with the family for a wedding I spent some of my days with them. The laptop came in handy with the kids as I came across a site called netbaza.net which had a huge range of TV shows and free movies online to keep everyone entertained.
The good thing about netbaza is they allow you to stream the videos straight off there site without any buffering or pausing every 5 minutes. The site is hosted on a server capable of running netbaza even at the busiest of times and is totally legal so don’t worry about being caught for copyright laws.
I enjoy sitting back on the weekends and catching up with some of my favorite TV shows and now that I have a wireless media box which I plug straight into my TV I can now stream media from my computer or online straight to my TV/home cinema. This has taken sites like netbaza to the extreme and more high quality sites will be popping up over the next few months as the wireless media box takes off.
Try out netbaza today and see if they have your favorite movies of TV shows online within there database. All content on there website is free so you don’t have to pay for the movies you watch online.

When Alcohol Poisoning Serves as a Wakeup Call for a Teenager
July 2nd, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedJeffrey was a high school freshman who frequently seemed to be living on the edge. Jeffrey had an adventurous personality and regularly wanted to do what his older brothers were doing for fun. The main difficulty with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were as a consequence able from a legal vantage point to drive a vehicle and to drink alcohol.
Jeffrey, in spite of this, had a rough time figuring out that as a fifteen-year-old person he should not be drinking alcoholic beverages. In fact, on the other hand, Jeffrey generally drank with his friends after school, largely on the weekends.
One weekend, Jeffrey made up his mind to drive around with some of his older friends. One of his guy friends was old enough to purchase alcohol. After buying some wine coolers, wine, and beer, Jeffrey and all of his friends went to a park and drank for just about two or three hours.
A Young Man Passes Out
After drinking roughly ten alcoholic benerages, Jeffrey started to feel woozy and then threw up. When he became unconscious on the tennis court, one of his buddies called 911 for immediate medical assistance. It was fortunate that the call for medical help was made because when his pals went to the hospital to see Jeffrey, they were notified that Jeffrey had been suffering from alcohol poisoning symptoms. Simply put, Jeffrey had experienced an alcohol overdose.
When Your Friends Drink Too Much
Jeffrey had learned that drinking heavily can lead to an alcohol overdose but he never thought that this could ever happen to him. After all, some of his friends over and over again bragged that they could drink twenty four or more cans of beer in a couple of hours without feeling any serious difficulties.
Based on this, Jeffrey was in point of fact startled to find out that he had overdosed on alcohol because he “only” had more or less ten alcoholic beverages. When he articulated this to the attending physicain at the hospital, however, the physicain notified Jeffrey that drinking ten bottles of beer over a two or three hour time frame could in reality be substantially more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The physicain further stated how significant amounts of alcohol can cause the brain to shut down an individual’s breathing and that when this occurs, an individual can expire.
The First Signal of Abusive Drinking
This was the first warning to Jeffrey that he was drinking in a risky fashion and that there are costs for such actions. The physicain told Jeffrey that he was a lucky individual because he almost lost his life from an alcohol overdose the previous night.
The doctor also spoke to Jeffrey’s parents and suggested that they get alcohol therapy for Jeffrey. His parents were pleased that Jeffrey was safe and informed the doctor that they would look into getting Jeffrey alcohol counseling.
While talking to his parents, Jeffrey informed them that there must be a solid reason why he did not perish and that he felt thankful that he was still alive. He also informed his parents that the odd part about the entire drinking situation was that he had learned about alcohol poisoning last week in Mr. Franklin’s health class.
When Paying Attention in Class Can Affect Your Life
At the time, what his health teacher, Mr. Franklin, was teaching didn’t seem to make a lot of sense to Jeffrey. Now that he almost passed away, however, he felt that he should have listened more thoroughly in health class and applied what he had learned to his life.
Jeffrey notified his parents that he couldn’t wait to go back to the classroom and make an apology to Mr. Franklin for not paying more attention to a subject that was as relevant as learning about alcohol abuse and how to stay away from alcohol poisoning.
His parents smiled at Jeffrey and said that they were thrilled with the way he was accepting responsibility for his risky drinking behavior. All he had to do now was to let this life threatening experience make an impact his life in a positive manner so that he would never again experience a case of alcohol poisoning.

Buying for Kids? Avoid Recalls!
June 30th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen you shop for toys for kids, you must to know which toys are safe to buy for your kids and which ones are hazardous. Many toys in stores have been recalled but the stores would not stop selling them them. If you are not up to the minute with the toy recall list, then you could purchase some really cool toys that your children will play with all the time but these toys might turn out to contain some toxic, harmful materials. You need to be careful when purchasing toddlers toys or any toys for babies especially because a tiny amount of dangerous substance in toys can hurt them.
It is disturbing that harmful toys continue to be sold in stores everywhere, despite new laws that are put in place to protect kids from harmful toys. Toy safety is a major problem that parents worry about daily. Although most toys on store shelves are safe, there continues to be various toys that are too dangerous for small children. As a result, parents and people taking care of kids need to exercise care in order to prevent toy-related deaths and injuries. With more information, the scope of unsafe toys has been widened to include toys that were thought to be safe such as those labeled as phthalate-free. It is true that even some products labeled phthalate-free contain the dangerous chemical.
While toy manufacturers should act fast to recall unsafe products and give parents all the information they need so that they can purchase toys that are safe for their kids, some of them just do not. You will no doubt have heard of many toy recalls on TV but there are a lot more toy recalls that do not make it to the news. As a result, parents may not know that they are unsafe to use or buy. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, the agency whose goal is to keep toys and other products safe, have released alerts and information on toy safety but there are still many manufacturers that are not doing anything and still sell toys laden with toxic substances. The Consumer Product Safety Commission cannot do much about existing toys that are already out on the shelves.
If you suspect you have a toxic, toxic and dangerous toy or any unsafe product, you need report the incident to the CPSC by calling a toll-free Consumer Hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270).

Kids Outdoor Toys - Marble Racer Rolls Out a New Twist on an Old Game
June 29th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWhat was your favorite childhood game? Checkers? Dominos? Tic-Tac-Toe? It seems that the more sophisticated some games become, the more others stay the same. Some games simply withstand the test of time. Our parents played them. We played them. And now our children are playing them. Some classic games have new twists to them. Yet their essence hasn’t changed over the years, and they still create as much entertainment, as they always have. Marbles is one such game.
From nuts to glass
Have you ever wondered about the history of marbles? Before marbles, kids probably played with polished nuts. Roman and Greek youngsters later played games with small balls of clay. And marbles were even found in King Tut’s tomb!
Marbles have a long history in Europe. They remained popular through the Middle Ages, when society frowned on children enjoying fun game. Clay marbles of the Medieval and Elizabethan eras became marble marbles when Germans started to manufacture smoother versions. In fact, the word -marble- itself means -for the rock- in German.
Germany became the world’s leader in marble for numerous centuries. They produced them from materials such as brass, gemstone, and limestone. Amazingly, some businesses could produce roughly 800 marbles per hour!
Today, glass marbles are the most common ones produced. Historians believe that they were first made in either Germany or Italy.
Another great American pastime
How about marbles in North America? Scientists believe that various tribes of Native Americans played with marbles made of clay and stone. The most famous ones were found at the Hopewell burial site, located in the same state as Millersburg Ohio.
Much later, the first manufactured marbles were produced in America towards the latter part of the 1800s. Later, the initial marbles that a machine created were made in the state of Ohio. Martin Frederick Christensen received the official rights for a machine that made steel ball bearings that were nearly perfectly round. He also produced America’s first machine-made marbles! Christensen’s company was manufacturing 10,000 marbles per day, by 1910.
Today, one company in Mexico cranks out 12 million marbles every day, and then ships them to an amazing 35 nations throughout the world!
Marble madness
Fortunately, playing a game of marbles with your kids won’t require 12 million of them:
Equipment:
- A minimum of 14 marbles: 13 -mibs- marbles and 1 -shooter- marble
- A circle
Rules:
- Every player chooses how many marbles they’ll use during the game
- Draw a circle with a diameter of 3-10 feet (use bigger circles for better players)
- Put 13 -mibs- (smaller marbles) in the circle’s center, creating an -X- or an -O-
- A player flicks a shooter to knock out at least 1 mib from the circle, without the shooter rolling out of the circle. If a player achieves this objective, he can shoot again from where the shooter landed.
- The player gets 1 point for each mib knocked out of the circle. Also, other players’ shooters can be knocked out of the circle.
- If the player: 1) fails to knock out at least 1 mib, or 2) his shooter rolls outside the circle, the player must place the shooter within the circle.
- After all of the original mibs have been hit outside the circle, the player with the highest number of points is declared the winner!
Marbles remains one of the timeless kids outdoor toys, in almost all places. While games such as Marble Racer blends the timeless toy with other types of kids outdoor toys, the essence of the toy remains unchanged. As long as there are children in the world, they’ll never become tired of watching the colorful glass balls roll along a tile, pavement, or miniature slide!

Personalizing Their Toy Boxes - Today is Your Lucky Day
June 28th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedIt is nice to see children playing with their toys and being responsible enough to return them to their respective wooden toy boxes. At least they know where to put them after they play with them. Teaching the children to do this can be hard at times because it depends on the attitude of the kid. If the kid were the kind that obeys almost everything said to him, then you would not have any problems with him as he grows up. However, if he is the other way around, better keep an eye on him.
Going back, children know which box is their but there are some who do not. One way to help them remember is to personalize their toy boxes. Let them put whatever design, sticker or picture they want as long as it is not messy to look at. Be there to help them out when they want to use glue or any other material that is a bit hard to work with. As the parent or guardian, it is your duty to make sure that everything is okay for the kids.
However, some of the wooden toy boxes come with designs already. This means that there is less customizing done. Putting names on the boxes is one idea to know which box belongs to whom. You can let the children draw their name in a piece of paper and then put some décor to make it more attractive to look at. In this way, it helps the kids show their creativity and resourcefulness. They know what they want to see in their design and know where to find the materials they need.
If the material is unavailable, try talking to them and tell them to use whatever is present in the house. When they agree, good for you because you do not need to go out and buy what they need. Nevertheless, if they still insist in using their desired material, accompany them to the nearest supplies store and let him choose. Before paying, check the item if there are any flaws since you want to make sure that you are buying a brand new one. Using some scraps is okay too as long as there is something to use.
The decorations of the wooden toy boxes will surely be with different things to reflect the owner’s personality. My merely looking on the box, you get a glimpse and feel of what the child likes. The boxes are already an extension of the kids and you know how to deal with them just by looking at it. This storage helps people understand their kids better and know how their brain works. More so, you can do some final changes with the boxes before you let it out to dry. Removing those excess glue or add-ons is necessary to bring out the best in the updated, jazzed and personalized boxes of the children. When the box completely dries, give them back to the kids and let them have fun with it.
